Marshall Public Library began as a project of the Pocatello Women’s Civic Club in 1904. Due to its efforts and generous support from Andrew Carnegie, the Pocatello Public Library opened in 1908. The original building at the corner of Center St. and Garfield Ave. served the citizens of Pocatello until 1962 when the library moved into a new building on E. Clark St. For 30 years, the library increased in resources and services, quickly outgrowing another building. A substantial addition was made to the original library building and the library moved back to the expanded Garfield Ave. location in late 1994. The library’s name was changed in May 1995 to honor donors Barbara and Wendell Marshall.
